Our masks are made in India at the same factory that we have been using for years to produce our medical scrubs. The masks are shipped via Fedex or USPS from our warehouse in Huntsville, AL :) Once shipped, it takes anywhere from 2-5 business days to receive your order.
So this is where we will go on a rant. We have seen a lot of companies market thin 100% cotton masks that are very "breathable". Let's keep in mind why we are all wearing masks to begin with - it is to filter out particulates and keep us, our loved ones and the community around us safe.
Being a medical scrubs brand at heart, we design products for the healthcare community. The outer layer in our masks is constructed from the same fabric we use in our scrubs, a proprietary 200 GSM Poly/Viscose/Spandex fabric. This fabric is water resistant which helps keep droplets (sneezes) out. It is also treated with antimicrobial, which essentially prevents the growth of bacteria, mold & mildew that may cause unpleasant odors, discoloration or deterioration of the fabric.
The inner layer is constructed from a 200gsm 100% cotton fabric. We include 3 replaceable PM2.5 Filters made from melt-blown polypropylene offering 95% Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) and 95% Particulate Filtration Efficiency (PFE) measurement at 0.1 microns.
So anytime you are wearing a mask that filters out >95% of particulates, it will take some getting used to :)
FYI - below is the recommended mask construction as recommended by the WHO. Our masks meet every single one of them. So whether you decided to buy our masks or not, simply do us a favor and WEAR A MASK! :)
A regular metal wire would corrode in repeated washes so we decided to use a commercial grade aluminum wire encased in a plastic covering. We also cover the corners of the wire with medical tape so the edges of the wire don't tear through the fabric :)
The bendable nose wire can be used to help seal the mask thus eliminating air traveling upwards and fogging your glasses.
Each mask comes with 3 replaceable PM2.5 Filters offering 95% BFE (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency). The BFE>95% filter is made of melt-blown polypropylene and thus is not washable as the meltblown fabric loses its effectiveness even after one wash. We recommend changing them out once every 3-4 days or whenever you feel it's tougher to draw a breath.
While the masks are machine washable, we always recommend handwashing and air drying any garment as it increases the longevity. This way you don't have to come back and spend more money on masks as machines are rougher on garments than hand washing. We recommend washing them on cold.
As mentioned above, the filters are not washable as the meltblown fabric loses its effectiveness even after one wash. We recommend changing them out once every 3-4 days or whenever you feel it's tougher to draw a breath.
Yes! We offer pre built 5 mask variety packs OR you can simply select 5 individual masks, there is no difference in price :) If ordering one of the variety packs, please make sure the default packs option is set to "Single" as the 5 mask variety pack is already setup as 5 masks.
We charge $3.50 total for between 1-4 masks. Why is shipping not free? It's because we use a shipping partner and warehouses charge what's called a pick and pack fee. The more skus (items), higher the fee they charge us as workers need to walk to different areas to pick up different colors. The shipping fee we pay to the warehouse is much higher than $3.50 but we cut into our margins and cover the difference. Shipping is never really "free", it's always built into the price you pay :)
